If you encounter a Sign In page while navigating SAGE Journals Online, the content or feature you are attempting to access requires a login. In order to view the content or feature, you must supply your user name and password. There should be an indication on the Sign In page if the content or feature is available to registered users or if a subscription to the particular journal is required.

How do I choose my user name and password?
If you have a current subscription, but have not yet activated your online access to the site, click Need to Activate? and enter your Customer/Member Number on the activation page. Follow the activation steps to designate your personal user name and password.

If you complete a SAGE Journals Online registration, you will be prompted to designate a user name and password during the registration process.

I've entered my user name and password but they are not accepted. What do I do?
Passwords are case sensitive. Make sure you are entering your password exactly as it was set, and check that your keyboard's Caps Lock key is not depressed.

Can I retrieve my forgotten user name and/or password?
If you have forgotten your chosen user name or password, follow the Forgot your user name or password? link to request a new password. An email containing a new, randomly-generated password and a reminder of your chosen user name will be sent to you at the email address listed in your online account. You must supply either your Customer Number or chosen user name and verify the email address on file for your subscription to receive a new password.

Will the site remember my user name and password so I won't need to log in every time I visit?
Yes, you can enable auto sign-in on SAGE Journals Online. Enter your user name and password and place a check mark next to the Remember my user name & password option. The site will set a cookie on your computer, eliminating the need for you to sign in to your subscription or registration each time you visit the site.

Only use the Remember my user name & password option on your personal computer, and not on a shared workstation.

Am I required to accept cookies to use SAGE Journals Online?
No, you can sign in to your subscription or registration without the use of cookies. However, you will be prompted to sign in with your user name and password every time you access content or a feature that requires a login. To use the site without accepting cookies, follow the Sign in without cookies link.

The page indicates a subscription is required. Can I purchase access to a single article?
Yes. You may purchase temporary online access to single article. When prompted with the sign-in page, click Pay per Article and follow the instructions for online purchase. When your purchase is complete, a confirmation screen will appear and an email confirmation will be sent to the email address you provided on the purchase form. This email confirmation serves as your transaction receipt.

The sign-in page indicates I can register for free access to the content or feature. Where can I register?
The sign-in page will include either a Register for Access link or a Not yet Registered? Click here link. Follow the appropriate link to complete the registration process and designate a personal user name and password.

How do I use my Athens user name and password to access the site?
If you have an Athens user name and password, follow the Sign in via Athens link and enter this information. If your institution has a current subscription to the requested content, you will be granted access.

How can I subscribe to the journal?
