SAGE Journals Online: Search Results Help

The Search Results page displays a list of all articles matching your search criteria. If all results cannot be displayed on a single page, links to view the next results will appear at the top and bottom of this page.

Modify This Search
This link returns you to the Advanced Search form, populated with your original search parameters from your current search. Make any desired adjustments to the search parameters and click Search to run a new query.

For Checked Items
You can add article citations to My Marked Citations by checking each article of interest and clicking the Add to My Marked Citations button. Click Check All to select all articles on that page of search results.

To add articles from multiple pages of results, check articles on a single page of results and add to My Marked Citations before proceeding to the next page of results. Alternatively, you may increase the number of search results per page before making your selections.

As you add citations to My Marked Citations, the current number of marked citations will appear in brackets.

For Marked Citations
Additional features are available for those articles of interest you have added to My Marked Citations:

  • View/Edit My Marked Citations – displays your chosen marked citations, with or without the article abstract; remove any unwanted citations
  • Email/Download/Save/Print My Marked Citations – email your marked citations, download citations to a citation manager, add the citations to your Saved Searches, or print the citations; you must sign in with your individual user name and password to take advantage of the email and Saved Searches features

Format Results
You can use the format options to change the search results display. The standard format displays the cover image of the journal in which the article appears, the full article title, all author names, and additional contextual information about the search term. The condensed format is a truncated view of the article citation, without the additional search results features or journal cover image.

You can display between 10 and 80 search results per page and specify a relevance or date order for the results. The Relevance order places those articles containing the greatest number of search terms in the greatest frequency first. Articles containing the search term(s) in the title and/or abstract appear before those article containing the terms(s) only in the full-text content. The Most Recent ranking displays the articles in reverse chronological order.

Search/Browse by Subject
With some search results, a list of subject topics will appear. This list contains all subject topics to which at least two of the articles displayed on that search results page are assigned. Therefore, the topic list may increase or decrease in number as you change the number of articles displayed per page. To search for all articles assigned to these topics, check off all topics of interest, specify authors or terms in full-text content to be included in the search, and click Search on ALL checked items. Your new search results will display articles assigned to all checked subject topics and containing any specified authors or terms.
